if anyone would like to venture a suggestion as to how to remedy this plank in our floor, please feel free to offer away. it is about 3 inches wide and i dont know if it goes all the was to the cabinet, but i bet it does. this it what makes DIY projects so much fun...
we were crossing our fingers hoping that this sort of thing wasnt there so that we could just sand the floors down and paint them. but no dice.

More Counter Top Demolition!
The Counter Top Demolition
Chad had to disconnect the water line to the existing sink drain and the garbage disposal before we would take out the existing counter tops.
Question:
"Has Chad even disconnected a garbage disposal before?"
Answer: No.
Question:
"How did Chad figure out how to disconnect the garbage disposal?"
Answer: Youtube (of course)!
Chad consulted Youtube and watched a lesson on "How to disconnect a garbage disposal" before and during his attempts. We will remain grateful to the man on Youtube who posted this very necessary video...the garbage disposal made it out with flying colors.
Please notice how Chad's body is bent in and underneath the cabinet!

Say Good Bye to the Cracking Counter Tops!!!
Here is our "before" photo of our counter tops prior to our demolition. It has been about a month since they came out to measure for the new counter tops and the anticipation since then has been building. Also notice the valences on the windows...this is Sara's attempt at making all of her HGTV watching and slower summer schedule come to fruition.
Here is a photo of what our shade garden is "supposed" to look like. We had a little critter get into the garden after all of Chad's hard work. Notice the attractive wire fence we added to keep little backyard friends out, not even that was a deterrent. We are hoping that all of the plants will come back...we will keep you posted.
The Shade Garden
After the truck bed load of dirt was all spread in our new shade garden it was finally time to plant. Here is Chad planting some "Bay Breeze" Hawthornes along with other plants that are suppose to love "sun/shade"....something that chad has decided is a conspiracy with all the garden stores....every garden store suggested different plants so we are hoping that the plants we chose will thrive. Notice that Chad is planting after the sun has set...you have to love Texas in the summer time!

Guest House Touch Up
Sara sanding down the trim, notice that the trim isnt painted, the screen door is falling off, the real door is white, no shutters, no bottom plate under the door and the trim around the door will be replaced...
The trim around the windows is painted, the door is painted, and the shutters are up.
The shutters are up, the new screen door is hung, the bottom plate is up, and she is ready to go...
